LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW
Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2009 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum. POSITION OVERVIEW
Legacy Early College (“Legacy”) seeks talented and committed educators to serve as Teacher’s Associates. Our Teacher’s Associates will assist in the decision-making process for establishing curriculum and culture as they develop a world-class education program from the stages of vision to execution. Our Teacher’s Associates will assist with ensuring that our scholars can learn in an environment of joyful, excellent teaching. Above all else, the ideal Teacher’s Associate will find joy and purpose in teaching children the habits necessary to be successful in school, and they will relish the opportunity to imbue our students with a love for learning.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
  • Assess student learning in an ongoing manner while providing frequent student feedback, information, and written progress reports to parents as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Meet with the lead teacher to plan lessons and discuss upcoming classroom events.
  • Observe lead teachers and debrief on classroom management and instructional strategies.
  • Meet professional obligations such as meeting deadlines and honoring schedules.
  • Actively participate in professional development, grade-level, and department meetings.

Qualifications
  • meet at least one of the following requirements:
    • at least two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or
    • an associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education; or
    • a qualifying score on a state-approved assessment that measures the individual’s knowledge of and ability to assist in instruction at the appropriate level.
  • Student teaching and/or paraprofessional experience preferred

Work Schedule
This position operates on a 10-month schedule based on the Legacy Early College centralized calendar. A typical week during normal school hours is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Summer employment opportunities may be available.

  • Long-standing and sitting periods and the ability to lift items up to 25 lbs. are required.

  • Periodic participation in activities to support Legacy Early College is required.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that the employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which are required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
