Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support within our facility, which specializes in various medical fields including Dermatology, Internal Medicine, and Geriatrics. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, such as a Level I Trauma Center.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Prepare patients for their appointments by taking medical histories and recording vital signs.
- Manage patient records and ensure accurate coding for billing purposes.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment.
- Coordinate patient referrals and follow-up appointments.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and health maintenance.
- Support emergency medicine procedures when necessary.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices, and patient care protocols.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work in high-pressure situations, especially within emergency medicine contexts.
- A commitment to providing high-quality care to diverse patient populations.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is a plus but not required.
