Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) for a federal contract project running from May 1, 2026, through October 15, 2026. You will be responsible for the implementation and administration of the government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and ensuring 100% compliance with EM 385-1-1 and 29 CFR 1926.16. This is a dedicated safety role with full stop-work authority.
Qualifications
- Mandatory Training: Current OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certificate.
- Competency: Must show proof of 8 hours of formal safety training within the last 12 months.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years within the past 5 years in:
- Supervising/managing dredging or marine construction; OR
- Supervising/managing land-based construction; OR
- Managing safety programs and conducting hazard analyses.
- Certifications: Valid CPR/First Aid/AED.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Site Inspections: Conduct daily safety and health inspections; maintain a written log of hazards and corrective actions for daily production reports.
- Hazard Analysis: Review, sign, and enforce all Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and the APP.
- Administrative Oversight: Maintain the SOH Deficiency Tracking System, OSHA Form 300, and on-site Safety Bulletin Board.
- Incident Management: Lead mishap investigations and report all near-misses.
- High-Hazard Monitoring: Maintain weekly tracking for high-risk activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, confined space, and elevation.
- Presence: Must be on-site at all times during work operations and available for immediate verbal consultation via phone or radio.
Contract & Requirements
- Full-Time Commitment: This is a dedicated position; the SSHO may not hold other roles requiring mechanical or equipment operation.
- Authority: The SSHO is subject to dismissal by the government if duties are not effectively carried out.
- Per Diem: Lodging allowances provided for eligible non-local candidates.
