Controller / Accounting Manager

Legacy Building Supply is seeking a full-time Controller / Accounting Manager to join our leadership team.

This is much more than a bookkeeping position. The Controller is responsible for the financial operations of the company and plays a key role in helping ownership make sound business decisions.

About the Role

The Controller / Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day accounting functions of Legacy Building Supply while providing accurate financial information to ownership. This position requires someone who can manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, and continually look for ways to improve efficiency and financial controls.

Primary Responsibilities

·        Manage all Accounts Payable functions

·        Manage all Accounts Receivable functions

·        Maintain the general ledger and accounting records

·        Prepare monthly financial statements and reports

·        Complete month-end and year-end closing procedures

·        Prepare and file sales tax reports

·        Assist with payroll processing and payroll reporting

·        Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and financing accounts

·        Monitor cash flow and working capital

·        Work directly with ownership on budgeting and financial planning

·        Coordinate with the company's CPA for year-end reporting and tax preparation

·        Assist with audits and financial reviews

·        Maintain fixed asset records

·        Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal controls

·        Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies

·        Maintain confidentiality of all financial information

Requirements

·        Accounting or finance experience required

·        Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles

·        Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general ledger accounting

·        High level of accuracy and attention to detail

·        Strong organizational and time management skills

·        Excellent computer skills and proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel

·        Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities

·        Strong communication and problem-solving skills

·        High level of integrity and confidentiality
