Loan Operations Supervisor-Loan Assistants

Legacy Bank
Wichita, KS Full Time
POSTED ON 9/27/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/25/2026

Location: N. Ridge Rd | Wichita, KS

(On-site position; remote work is not available. Relocation assistance is not provided.)

The Loan Operations Supervisor leads and develops the Loan Assistant team in alignment with Legacy Bank’s core values of Relationships, Empowerment, Reliability, Kindness, and Legacy. The role builds lasting relationships across the team and empowers Loan Assistants through clear standards and decision authority, and promotes reliable, accurate, and compliant work. The supervisor leads with kindness by coaching with respect, providing direct feedback, and supporting each employee’s growth. By developing talent and strengthening processes, this role helps create a lasting legacy of capable people and sustainable performance.

The first priority of this role is people. The supervisor identifies and selects talent, leads onboarding, coaches and develops each Loan Assistant, owns individual development plans and career progression, and holds the team to clear and consistent standards. The second priority is the work itself: how it is designed, documented, and improved. The supervisor establishes written standards and partners with Commercial Lending, Processing, and Quality Assurance to resolve issues at their source rather than absorbing them.

The supervisor develops Loan Assistants into knowledgeable and empowered loan specialists who make sound decisions within defined authority. Operating under the direction of the Loan Operations Manager, the supervisor is accountable for the team’s results, development, and performance, not for routinely performing the team’s work. Success is measured by the team’s ability to operate confidently, reliably, and independently, with limited operational support provided when needed to maintain business continuity.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop Loan Assistants into loan specialists who make decisions within a defined authority. Publish and maintain the decision authority framework for the team, stating plainly what a Loan Assistant decides alone, what requires the supervisor and what requires the Loan Operations Manager, and widen it deliberately as capability grows. Build and run a structured onboarding and continued training program so that no one learns this role by trial and error. Certify competence against written standards. Track escalations per team member per week and work to reduce them, addressing any repeated escalations.

Lead, coach and develop the Loan Assistant team. Hold a regular one on one with team members and use it to develop their professional journey. Own individual development plans for each Loan Assistant and review it quarterly. Own the annual performance assessment foreach team member, including its preparation and its delivery. Identify and select talent and onboard new Loan Assistants. Build bench strength and identify successor readiness across the team in partnership with the Loan Operations Manager.

Design how work is assigned, balanced and sequenced across the team, including capacity planning and cross training so the team covers its own absences. Lead the team's contribution to process improvement. Recommend process changes, system enhancements, and tooling needs to the Loan Operations Manager and support implementation of approved solutions.

Monitor and report the team's performance and quality standards. Ensure all work is completed accurately and within the timelines and practices established by state, federal and bank guidelines, and ensure all loan documentation complies with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Build quality into the work at the point it is performed and partner with Quality Assurance on findings. Analyze trends and address root causes in process gaps.

Partner with Commercial Lending on the completeness and quality of files entering the team, and hold that standard consistently across loan officers. Partner with the Loan Operations Support Supervisor, Processing and Quality Assurance to resolve handoff issues at their source. Represent the Loan Assistant team in departmental planning, system decisions and change initiatives, and carry the reasoning for those changes back to the team.

Maintain sufficient working knowledge of Loan Assistant processes to supervise the work, evaluate its quality and make informed decisions about it. Perform Loan Assistant duties on a limited basis when necessary to support business continuity. Routine production coverage is not an expectation of this role. When coverage needs to extend beyond occasional circumstances, elevate them to the Loan Operations Manager as a staffing, capacity, or process concern rather than absorbing them into the position.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
