Position Summary

The School Custodian for MS Delta Academies ~ Leflore Legacy Academy performs on-campus custodial duties and minor handyman duties at least 20 hours per week. The Custodian will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment. We are seeking a self-starter with a growth mindset who is passionate about the mission and values of Leflore Legacy Academy.

Competencies & Qualifications:

• Two or more years successful custodial/maintenance experience (preferred)
• Able to perform basic physical activity, including lifting items up to 50 pounds and frequent bending, climbing, standing, and walking
• Able to work in an environment featuring chemicals and cleaning solutions, dust, inclement weather, etc.
• Proven track record of professionalism
• Prior experience in schools (preferred, but not required)

· Good interpersonal and communications skills.

· Ability and willingness to follow directions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

· Opening and/or closing the school building

· Daily cleaning of bathrooms, classrooms, common areas, exterior grounds, hallways, offices, etc.

· Restocking cleaning equipment and supplies

· Responding to occasional student accidents, including blood, urine, and vomit

· Receiving and storing delivered packages

· Perform minor handyman duties (replace light bulbs, clean inside air filters, paint etc.)

· Prepare facilities for special events and visitors

· Operate, clean and maintain equipment (mops, buckets, auto scrubber, etc.)

· Regular laundry duties (towels, mops, etc.)

· Perform floor work to include stripping and waxing floors, sealing floors, extracting stains from carpets, etc.

· Learn building systems such as the fire alarm, burglar, main shutoff and electrical breaker systems

· When applicable, unlock doors, disable alarm system, ensure the air conditioning/heater turns on, turn on lights, perform a quick safety inspection

· Respond to emergencies with a sense of urgency

· Resolve staff requests efficiently and politely

Compensation
This position pays the federal hourly minimum wage.

Leflore Legacy Academy was unanimously approved by the MS Charter School Authorizer Board in September 2019 and opened in Greenwood, MS in Fall 2020. We’re a small school environment; we now serve more than 200 students in grades 6-8. Position Summary

The School Cafeteria Team Member for MS Delta Academies ~ Leflore Legacy Academy will prepare and serve food in a school cafeteria environment. This position is part-time during the school year.

Competencies & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Experience working in a school cafeteria or other food services environment preferred.

• Ability to communicate with others and cooperate with coworkers to ensure a professional working environment.

• Growth mindset.

• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, carry objects of up to 40 pounds a minimum of three feet and a maximum of ninety feet.

• ServeSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and distribute meals to students, ensuring all standards and procedures are followed properly.

• Observe and report student food preferences to guide future menus and recipes.

• Practice hygiene and sanitation practices to ensure constant delivery of safe and healthy food items.

• Coordinate with janitorial staff to ensure all dining and kitchen areas are cleaned and sanitized constantly.

• Must be able to operate commercial kitchen appliances including, but not limited to, ovens and dishwashers.

• Requires frequent kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

• Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment.
