Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough short- and long-term market analysis, leveraging large datasets to inform trading decisions and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance forecasting models for pricing, congestion, system load, and other market-related factors using Excel, Python, SQL, and other relevant tools.
- Generate and assess various forward-looking scenarios, including localized congestion and abnormal market events, to create edge case strategies.
- Monitor real-time market conditions, identify emerging patterns, and provide actionable insights and recommendations to traders.
- Work closely with traders, offering up-to-date market insights, and providing backup support by transacting, monitoring positions, and submitting trades on weekends when required.
- Prepare and deliver detailed market analysis reports or dashboards, ensuring that traders have the most relevant and accurate information.
- Gather, clean, and manage extensive datasets, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data used in models and analysis.
- Create and maintain tools, models, and reports to support trading activities utilizing Excel, SQL, Python, and other external APIs.
- Offer strategic trade recommendations based on a deep understanding of market fundamentals and analytics, contributing to the trading desk's overall performance.

- Track and analyze weather forecasts, determine impact to LRE portfolio and develop actionable trading strategies.

- Support Origination and Development, supplying long-term price forecasts and scenario analysis.
- 2-4 years of experience as an Analyst or Junior Trader on a Power Trading desk, with a proven track record in transactional support and market analysis.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Excel (including VBA) strongly recommended, Tableau, and power flow modeling tools such as Pro-Mod and Power World.
- Strong understanding of transmission grids, power flows, virtual trading, and FTR auctions, particularly across PJM, ERCOT, and CAISO.
- Critical thinker with strong analytical abilities, capable of identifying risk mitigation strategies and enhancing revenue through data-driven decisions.
- Effective communicator with the ability to translate complex analytical findings into actionable insights for traders.
- Ability to work under pressure, think creatively, and provide weekend support when needed.
- This position will travel 20% of time
- Position will require sitting for long periods of time as well as occasionally lifting up to twenty-pound boxes.
