Responsibilities
- Assist dentists with chairside procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly following aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety standards
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of medical documentation
- Monitor vital signs and medical history to assist in comprehensive patient assessments
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions with clear communication of dental terminology
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient flow
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures
- Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners and X-ray machines safely and effectively
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics
- Experience performing chairside assisting during various procedures including endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; certification in pediatric dentistry or related specialties is advantageous
