Solid Surface Fabricator Job Description
Position Summary:
The Solid Surface Fabricator will be responsible for transforming raw acrylic solid surface materials into high-quality finished products such as countertops, vanities, and custom installations. This role requires expertise in fabricating, shaping, and finishing solid surfaces, ensuring that all products meet the highest quality standards.
Essential Functions (Other duties as assigned):
· Fabricate solid surface products from various manufacturers, including cutting, shaping, and assembling components.
· Read and interpret shop drawings, including plan views, elevations, and sections, to ensure precise fabrication.
· Use a variety of tools and machinery, including table saws, chop saws, routers, grinders, and sanders, for accurate material preparation and assembly.
· Finish and polish solid surface materials to specified grades, ensuring a smooth and uniform appearance.
· Cut sinkholes, backsplashes, and other custom features to exact specifications in job notes and drawings.
· Inspect finished products to ensure they meet specifications, standards, and customer requirements; address defects or imperfections as needed.
· Maintain and perform routine maintenance on fabrication equipment, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
· Collaborate with team members, including designers, project managers, and installers, to ensure seamless coordination throughout the fabrication process.
· Follow all safety guidelines and adhere to industry standards, including proper handling and disposal of materials.
Education and Required Skills:
· High School diploma or GED
· Solid surface fabrication experience using acrylic materials from various manufacturers.
· Proficiency in reading tape measures and interpreting shop drawings.
· Familiarity with power tools such as table saws, chop saws, handheld routers, grinders, and sanders.
· Experience with finishing and polishing solid surfaces to various finish grades.
· Physical ability to lift and move materials throughout the workday.
· Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
· Bilingual abilities (a plus but not required).
· Familiarity with cabinet manufacturing processes.
· Strong attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
· Ability to work collaboratively with a team and adapt to changing project requirements.
· Commitment to completing tasks with urgency and efficiency.
· Demonstrated ability to follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders.
Working Condition:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to noise levels consistent with a mill work factory environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be required.
