We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Indirect Tax Manager to join our tax team. This role will be responsible for managing the company’s indirect tax compliance, reporting, and risk management activities across multiple jurisdictions.
The ideal candidate is a strong technical tax professional who can balance attention to detail with a broader business perspective. You will partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Operations, and external advisors to ensure the organization remains compliant while identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems, and overall tax efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the company’s indirect tax obligations, including sales and use tax, VAT, GST, excise tax, and other transaction taxes as applicable.
- Oversee indirect tax compliance, including return preparation/review, payments, registrations, exemptions, and related filings.
- Monitor changes in federal, state, and local indirect tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.
- Manage tax audits, notices, inquiries, and other governmental interactions related to indirect taxes.
- Partner with Accounting and Finance to ensure accurate tax calculations, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Provide guidance on indirect tax implications of new products, services, transactions, contracts, and business initiatives.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve indirect tax processes, controls, and technology.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external tax advisors on complex indirect tax matters.
- Support tax technology initiatives, including tax engines, ERP systems, automation, and data-quality improvements.
- Maintain appropriate documentation, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Assist with special projects, acquisitions, expansions into new jurisdictions, and other strategic initiatives as needed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional business partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
- 5 years of progressive indirect tax experience, preferably with a combination of public accounting and industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax and other indirect tax concepts; international VAT/GST experience is a plus.
- Experience managing tax compliance, audits, notices, and research across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience working with ERP systems and/or indirect tax technology such as Vertex, Avalara, or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong business judgment and the ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders.
Salary : $125,000 - $140,000
