SUMMARY:
The General Education School Social Worker serves as a vital support for students, families, and school systems by addressing barriers to learning through assessment, counseling, case management, crisis response, program development, and collaboration with school and community resources. Utilizing a strong foundation in human behavior, cultural competence, and educational best practices, the General Education School Social Worker fosters a positive school climate and promotes student success.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

Identify students who require additional care through assessments, referrals, staff collaboration, GoGuardian Beacon alerts, and Student Support Team (SST) recommendations.

Provide individual and group counseling to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs impacting academic performance.

Develop and implement individualized plans of care for students based on assessments and identified needs.
-
Fulfill all responsibilities associated with C4S Grant requirements.

Respond to student crises including emotional trauma, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and self-harm situations at both Lee High School and East Lee Campus.

Serve as an active member of district teams, including but not limited to: BTAM Team, Crisis Management Team, MTSS/PBIS Teams, SIT SEB Teams, and School Improvement Teams at Lee High School and East Lee Campus.

Act as a coach and support resource for the implementation of RULER, the district's identified social-emotional learning curriculum.

Assist in planning and coordinating PBIS assemblies, positive behavior initiatives, and attendance incentive events.

Collaborate with building administration, intervention teams, and staff to support the SST process and identification of students needing interventions.

Co-facilitate the 504 Plan process, providing consultation and family engagement support.

Partner with district McKinney-Vento Liaisons and Kent School Services Network (KSSN) personnel to connect students and families to appropriate resources.

Serve as a member of East Lee Campus' Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) when onsite.

Assist in school programming that supports student engagement and mental health, including orientation sessions, parent-teacher conferences, and graduation events.

Maintain timely, accurate, confidential records and documentation in compliance with legal and district policies.

Actively pursue professional growth through workshops, conferences, training sessions, and ongoing study of best practices in school mental health.

Adhere to district policies, board regulations, and legal requirements.

Perform additional related duties as assigned by district or building administration.
SKILL-BASED QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficient in using technology for case management, communication, and student support monitoring (e.g., GoGuardian, student information systems).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Required: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSSW) with certification as a School Social Worker.

Preferred: Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Preferred: Experience in a school setting supporting students' social-emotional and behavioral needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, walking, and speaking with students, families, and staff.

Must be able to physically respond quickly to crisis situations and emergencies.

Occasional lifting of supplies, event materials, or equipment up to 25 pounds.

Ability to travel between multiple school sites within the district as needed.
