What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prepress Technician position at Lee Enterprises?
The Tulsa World, a Lee Enterprises company, is seeking a Prepress Technician for the night shift, once they are trained on the day shift. A Prepress Technician is a hands-on position that operates various prepress equipment to process customer files to produce proofs and plates for final print job. Duties include making proofs and plates for printing and performing maintenance to the plating/proofing lines. This position will also read and accurately interpret production orders, paginate publishing products within style guidelines and deadlines, as well as maintain pagination systems, page templates, color palette, style sheets, etc. All duties are performed under general guidance of a supervisor in a safe manner. The ideal candidate will have experience with both PC computers and be able to operate basic graphic arts software.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must have good mechanical and digital troubleshooting skills.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe InDesign.
- Knowledge of advanced PC software system operations, such as Photoshop, desk top publishing.
- Must have skill on keyboard and operating computer software.
- Must have skill in organizing information, materials, and time.
- Must have a good working knowledge of press limitations and press layouts.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and understand written and/or verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate verbally in a professional manner with co-workers.
- Ability to produce accurate work.
- Knowledge of computer systems and software.
- Learn new software and/or operate new equipment.
- Meet short deadlines and work within tight schedules.
- On-site, regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Must be flexible to shift changes and start and stop times.
