ABOUT THE STUDIO

We are a boutique architecture and design studio based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, specializing in bespoke cultural, institutional, and residential projects. Our practice is rooted in thoughtful design, deep collaboration, and long-term engagement—from early concept through design, construction, and occupancy. Our projects foster identity and belonging through human-centered design, cultural sensitivity, and the translation of community values into the built environment.

We are currently looking for support on a couple of high-profile projects. We are collaborating with an internationally renowned architectural practice on the interior design of a new university campus in China. This project is currently in the Construction Documents (CD) phase. We are also working with a local university on the design of a new building. This project is entering the construction administration (CA) phase. We are seeking an architect/ designer with 5-10 years of experience in design, documentation, and construction administration to support the Studio Principals in developing and delivering both projects.

THE ROLE

This position focuses on the 2 projects, with one in CD and one in CA. You will work closely with the Studio Principals, consultants, contractors, and client representatives to steward the design intent from documentation into the field.

Key responsibilities include:

Design:

  • Collaborate in a team environment for the project
  • Produce drawings, models, and renderings
  • Research on design concepts, system designs, and building products
  • Construction documents production

Construction Administration:

  • Assist the Studio Principal directly in CA daily tasks
  • Review and process submittals, RFIs, etc.
  • Conduct site visits and field observations; produce site reports
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractor, and client teams
  • Support design clarifications and construction-phase detailing, if needed
  • Track issues related to schedule, budget, and design intent
  • Ensure construction aligns with contract documents and approved design intent

This is a hands-on role requiring sound design sensibility and technical judgment, confidence in the field, and clear communication and collaboration in a team environment.

Qualifications:

We are specifically seeking someone who brings depth and maturity to the studio and is comfortable working on projects at different phases concurrently.

Required:

  • Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch)
  • 5–10 years of professional experience, preferably on cultural and/or institutional projects
  • Strong design and graphic software skills
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, detailing, and field conditions
  • Comfort interfacing directly with contractors, consultants, and the owner's rep
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

Tools & Workflow (as appropriate to the projects):

  • Rhino
  • SketchUp Pro
  • AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Other design, project management, and coordination tools as required

Why this Role

  • Opportunity to work on and be exposed to a diverse set of design opportunities and challenges, as you will be working on high-profile projects of different scales, project phases, and cultural environments.
  • Direct daily collaboration with studio leadership and teammates
  • A studio culture that values design excellence, technical rigor, and humanity
  • Small-team environment where your expertise is trusted and impactful
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
