Teacher Aide

JOB GOALS
To perform non-instructional duties under teacher supervision in meeting the needs of students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides support for the teacher by helping with clerical work and classroom activities;
- Assists in the development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP);
- Provides individual attention to students in need of extra assistance with personal care, hygiene, meals, and drinks, and assists students with the integration into regular classroom;
- Implements behavior intervention policies to ensure classroom safety for students and faculty;
- Maintains and respects student and school personnel information; and
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned by administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's Degree, or
- Two years of college (48 credit hours, minimum), or
- Receive a passing score for the ETS Paraprofessional assessment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required include stooping and/or kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing.

JOB GOALS
To provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students;
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes;
- Distributes and collects workbooks, paper, and other materials for instruction;
- Assists with the supervision of students during drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips;
- Supervises testing, corrects papers, checks homework as assigned by the teacher;
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials;
- Assumes responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job;
- Assists the teacher in assimilating materials for class displays;
- Promotes physical development with daily activities that require physical movement;
- Maintains and respects student and school personnel information; and
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned by administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree in Education or related field.
