What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bridge Technician II position at Lee County Government?
The Bridge Technician II helps keep bridges safe and in good condition in Lee County. This job involves working on bridges, including repairs, inspections, and maintenance, to make sure they are safe for everyone. You will work with different tools and machines and must follow safety rules.
- Fix and maintain drawbridges and regular bridges.
- Install and repair guardrails and handrails.
- Drive trucks, tractors, and other machines to help with repairs.
- Check and clean parts of drawbridges, like gears and bearings, and make sure they are working.
- Install and fix traffic safety systems.
- Work from a barge and fix parts of bridges over the water.
- Use hand and power tools.
- Set up and follow safety rules at the work site.
- Do welding repairs on bridges, railings, and other areas.
- Mix and pour concrete for repairs.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2 years of work experience in equipment operation, construction, building maintenance, concrete, or welding.
- This is a Safety-Sensitive job. You will need to pass drug and alcohol tests.
- Must have a Class A or B Commercial Learner’s Permit at the time of the offer.
- Must get a Class A or B CDL with Air Brakes endorsement within 6 months of hiring.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with welding and fabricating.
- Experience with repairing bridges, guardrails, fences, and concrete.
- Class A CDL with Air Brakes endorsement.
- Proficiency in welding, specifically using wire and stick-type welders, with experience in aluminum and steel.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and traffic regulations.
- Experience in setting up and maintaining safe work zones.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
- Must be flexible, especially if there is an emergency.
