Job Overview
2nd Shift Hours: 1:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Monday-Friday
Lee Building Products is seeking a motivated, hands-on leader to serve as our Shift Production Leader at our manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for leading all production activities during the shift, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of concrete masonry and hardscape products.
The Shift Leader will oversee production employees, coordinate daily operations with the Plant Manager and first/second-shift leadership, and ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety expectations are consistently achieved. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, manufacturing experience, and a passion for developing people and improving processes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of production employees throughout the shift.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize daily production activities to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Assign work responsibilities and ensure adequate staffing across all production functions.
- Promote a positive culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct shift meetings and communicate production priorities and safety expectations.
- Provide training and mentoring to employees while identifying opportunities for skill development.
Production Operations
- Oversee all production processes including batching, block machine operation, cubing, material handling, curing, and product movement.
- Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate routine maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate production records and monitor key production metrics.
Shift Coordination
- Coordinate daily production plans with the Plant Manager and the other Shift Leader to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
- Communicate equipment issues, production status, quality concerns, staffing needs, and maintenance requirements during shift handoffs.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance, quality control, and other departments to meet customer delivery schedules.
Safety and Quality
- Lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment and enforcing all company safety policies.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and address unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure all products meet Lee Building Products' quality standards and customer specifications.
- Promote housekeeping and organization throughout the facility.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete production reports, inventory tag procedures, attendance records, and shift documentation accurately.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, recognition, and corrective feedback as appropriate.
- Assist with interviewing, onboarding, scheduling, and employee development.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend process enhancements
Requirements
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand manufacturing equipment and production processes.
- Experience leading teams and motivating employees to achieve production goals.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate forklifts (training and certification provided if needed).
- Basic computer proficiency for production reporting and equipment systems.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Work Environment
- Indoor manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting, and working around industrial equipment.
- Second-shift schedule with minimal weekend work.
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment requiring sound decision-making and leadership throughout the shift.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
