Overview
Fiber Drop Bury / Trencher Operator - Seasonal
LeDuc Utility is looking for a dependable, hardworking individual to join our fiber drop bury crew for the remainder of the 2026 construction season. This is a seasonal position expected to run through November, weather and workload permitting.
Schedule
- Typical workday is expected to be 7:00 AM-7:00 PM.
- Longer days and schedule changes may occur depending on workload, weather, and job locations.
- Applicants should be comfortable working extended hours during the busy construction season.
Responsibilities
- Operate trenching/drop-bury equipment to install underground fiber optic service lines.
- Follow Miss Dig/811 utility markings and approved installation routes.
- Safely work around existing underground utilities.
- Hand dig when necessary around utilities, landscaping, and other obstacles.
- Assist with conduit installation and small bores when needed.
- Maintain proper burial depth and protect fiber during installation.
- Restore lawns and disturbed areas following installation.
- Take required job-site and completion photos.
- Maintain equipment and keep work areas clean and organized.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Complete assigned jobs efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Equipment operating, excavation, landscaping, or utility construction experience preferred.
- Fiber installation experience is a plus but not required.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Able to perform physical labor, including digging, lifting, bending, and walking.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to work long days when needed.
