Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and driven Plumbing Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and residential plumbing projects, including new construction, tenant improvements, renovations, and public works.
This role extends beyond takeoffs. We are looking for someone who understands relationships, cost strategy, and coordination — and who wants the opportunity to grow within a respected, established company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine plumbing scope
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates using Trimble AutoBid, FastPipe, QuoteSoft, or similar software
- Perform material takeoffs and labor projections for plumbing, hydronic, and fire sprinkler systems
- Attend job walks and pre-bid meetings
- Track project costs and assist with cost analysis
- Coordinate with engineering teams during design development and value engineering
- Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals within deadlines
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with current and prospective general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
- Track bid results and analyze win/loss outcomes
- Assist in negotiating contracts and scope clarifications
- Maintain historical cost databases and continuously improve estimating processes
- Support public works bidding with knowledge of prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon requirements (preferred)
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of plumbing estimating experience
- Proficiency in Trimble AutoBid, FastPipe, QuoteSoft, or similar estimating software
- Domestic water distribution
- Waste and vent systems
- Gas piping
- Hydronic systems
- Fire sprinkler systems
- Familiarity with California Plumbing Code (CPC) and Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC)
- Experience with prevailing wage / Davis-Bacon projects preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Field installation experience is a plus
- Strong cost tracking and analytical skills
- Exceptional attention management, organization, and prioritization skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and identify strategic bidding opportunities
- Relationship-driven mindset with strong communication skills
Physical & Employment Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must pass a post-offer physical examination
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening (in compliance with California law)
- Valid driver’s license required
