Controller (Client-Facing / Operational Accounting Leader)

This is not a “sit in the back office and close the books quietly” role.
This is for someone who can:
- own the month-end process,
- spot issues before they become problems,
- strengthen controls,
- and help clients build financial systems that actually support growth.

What You’ll Do- Lead and support month-end close and financial reporting for multiple clients
- Review financial statements for accuracy and consistency
- Identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities
- Implement and improve controls, processes, and documentation
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning as needed
- Resolve accounting issues, reconciliations, and discrepancies
- Coordinate audit and tax support
- Guide staff accountants/bookkeepers on best practices and quality standards
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10 years of accounting experience (Controller-level strongly preferred)
- CPA preferred
- Strong GAAP knowledge and operational accounting experience
- QuickBooks Online experience strongly preferred (QB Certified a plus)
- Strong Excel skills and high attention to detail
- Client-facing confidence, strong communication, and accountability
- Monday–Friday (occasional evenings/weekends during deadlines)
- Hybrid office/home-based with some client travel
- Pay range: $45–$55/hour (based on experience)
