School Van Driver - Student Transport - Part-Time

LED Transportation is seeking responsible, safety-focused Van Drivers to transport students to and from school or assigned stops under contract with local school districts. Drivers operate company-owned vehicles, including wheelchair-accessible vans when required. Some routes may include an educational aide onboard.

This position is part-time, seasonal following the academic calendar. No nights or weekends. Additional driver opportunities for Non-Emergency Medical transport routes are available.

Part-time Driver (Monday-Friday; approx.4 hours/day)

• Morning Shift > 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM
• Afternoon Shift > 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a passenger van in accordance with all Ohio Laws and company policies for non-school bus pupil transportation.
• Follow all applicable Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) regulations for student transportation.
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Assist students with boarding, exiting, and seating, including wheelchair securement and safety procedures.
• Maintain safe, respectful student behavior in alignment with school and company expectations.
• Accurately complete route logs and promptly report delays, incidents, or concerns.
• Maintain a clean, orderly vehicle and professional appearance.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Minimum age: 25 years old.
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to pass
• BCI/FBI background checks
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
• Physical examination, as required
• Adhere to any driver training, licensing, and eligibility requirements required by company and/or state-required training specific to vehicle type and pupil transportation procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate passenger vans, including wheelchair-accessible equipment and safe securement procedures.
• Strong communication skills and a patient, professional demeanor with students and families.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.

Compensation

• Hourly pay based on experience (starting at $14.00)
• Paid training provided
• 90-day probationary period
