The Mechanical Engineer in R&D will design, develop, test, and improve mechanical systems, components, and products from concept through production. This role partners closely with cross functional teams—including electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality—to deliver innovative, reliable, and cost effective solutions aligned with business and customer needs.

The Mechanical Engineer in R&D will design, develop, test, and improve mechanical systems, components, and products from concept through production. This role partners closely with cross functional teams—including electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality—to deliver innovative, reliable, and cost effective solutions aligned with business and customer needs.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for new and existing products
- Take ownership of mechanical design activities from concept, prototyping, and testing through release
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation
- Perform engineering analyses (tolerance, thermal, structural, FMEA, DFA/DFM)
- Develop and execute test plans; analyze data and recommend design improvements
- Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective
- Support prototype builds, validation testing, and product launches
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Work with suppliers and external partners as needed for component development
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and company procedures
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in the R&D Environment
- Strong proficiency with CAD tools (NX, Windchill / Creo is plus)
- Experience with product development lifecycle and prototype testing
- Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and documentation skills
