Summary:
The overall objective of this position is to set-up and operate CNC Mazak lathe and/or Haas (G & M code) milling machines to produce precision nozzles and accessories. This includes loading, touching off, monitoring tool performance, manual de-burring, program editing changing offsets and achieving close tolerances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)
This shall include but not limited to the following steps:
- Follows work center schedule and instructions from cell team leader or management.
- Scans in and out of operations for set-up and run.
- Creates, modifies, analyzes and edits programs when needed.
- Optimizes machining parameters (feeds, speeds and depth of cuts) for efficiency gain.
- Sets-up and operates CNC machines to meet drawing specifications / tolerances.
- De-burrs work in process safely using de-burring tools and/or buffing wheels.
- Follows sampling plan, check parts to ensure they meet drawing specifications using calibrated measuring devices / gages and records measurements accurately throughout a run on inspection document.
- Performs daily maintenance checks on machines and reports concerns.
- Maintains satisfactory general housekeeping and organization throughout the shop.
- Interacts with team members and other functional personnel in a professional manner.
- Follows all safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Participates in continual improvement efforts / programs and 5S walk through.
- Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
- Performs other tasks as required by management as needed.
- Works as backup for other machining positions or other roles on shop floor as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.

- Able to interpret blueprints & instructions, use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, bore gages, drop gages, surface roughness, VMS etc. and use material handling equipment such as forklifts, power lifts, jib crane, hand trucks and skid jacks.
- Able to work with others in a team atmosphere and willingness to learn and train others.
Education and/or Experience:
High school or equivalent, college course or CNC programming skills a plus. Minimum of 2 years of experience in the metal cutting or similar industry working with CNC turning and milling machines as a setup machinist and operator. Basic computer skills.
Language Skills:
English: Read, Write and Speak.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic math skills addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, converting fractions to decimals, metric to inch, simple algebra, basic geometry, and simple trigonometry using a calculator.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to recognize a tooling or machining issue during setup and/or run and be able to make a reasonable decision on resolving identified issue. Ability to identify problems, make corrections and take corrective actions.
Technology and Equipment:
CNC machinery, files, de-burring hand tools, X-acto de-burring knives, band saw, buffing wheels, forklifts, power lifts, pallet jacks, measuring devices / gages, CAD CAM softwares
Other Qualifications and Abilities:
No frequent travel required.
