Job Title:         Receptionist

Department:   Clerical

Reports to:      Chief Financial Officer

Classification: Classified / Non-Exempt

 

Summary

To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the office. Acts as first contact with visitors both on telephone and in person.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Greets all visitors. Represents a professional, warm, and cheerful persona to all visitors, parents and patrons.
  2. Receives, routes and takes messages for all incoming calls.
  3. Processes all incoming mail and delivers to appropriate offices.
  4. Processes out of district tuition.
  5. Point of contact for district phones; order and maintain.
  6. Receives homeschool requests and completes steps to such requests.
  7. Maintains inventory of supplies needed for office.
  8. Manages monthly postage report.
  9. Maintains postage meter; adds postage to mail, responsible for supplies and maintenance for meter.
  10. Maintains office calendars; custodial, board room, reception coverage.
  11. Point of contact for patrons in regards to new enrollment and Infinite Campus.
  12. Performs other duties as requested by administrators.

Qualifications 

Education/Experience/Certificates

  • High school diploma required, college is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of office experience with preference given to executive level.
  • Advanced computer skills required.
  • Such alternative to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Skills and Abilities  

Language 

Individual must be able to read and interpret documents, compile simple and complex reports, applications, and correspondences, and have the ability to speak with staff members and community members.

Computation

Basic math and accounting skills are required.

Reasoning 

The ability to interpret and follow directions is required, as are basic problem-solving abilities.

Technology

Must have strong computer skills, including word processing, working with spreadsheets, and internet. Must have the ability to learn new systems and software with instruction.

Additional Skills and Abilities

This individual must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels while maintaining a high degree of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.

While performing the duties of this position an employee is required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach, bend, and lift or carry up to 20 pounds.

Mobility

Occasional walking as required in a general office setting. 

Hearing

Must have the ability to hear conversation both in person and via telephone in a general office setting.

Speaking

Must have the ability to communicate effectively and confidently as a representative of the school district with parents, staff and community members.

Seeing

Prolonged computer use required. 

Lifting

Occasionally lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds.

Attendance

Consistent and regular attendance is essential.

Terms of Employment

12 months.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluation of Support 

Personnel.

Salary : $15 - $27
