Job Title: Benefits Coordinator
Department: Clerical
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Classification: Classified / Non-Exempt
Summary
To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the office. To provide assistance to the Director of Business & Operations in administering and managing classified staff benefit programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and providing support and guidance to employees regarding benefits options and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify sick leave, personal leave, and vacation leave; enter leave in the timekeeper system throughout the month.
- Maintain personnel, payroll and Business Office files as required
- Process all new classified staff data entry into benefit software and notify employees of benefits enrollment.
- Assist classified staff with benefit enrollment questions and claims issues.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment processes with Human Resources Coordinator, including communication and system updates
- Reports and maintains records pertaining to liability insurance claims.
- Reconcile payroll payables as assigned.
- Prepare correspondences, reports and presentations as required by Director of Business & Operations.
- Maintain titles for all district vehicles.
- Cross train and assist in performance of payroll, accounting, and budget functions.
- Issue and maintain appropriate FMLA notifications to employees.
- Report and maintain records pertaining to workers compensation.
- Report and maintain records for student injuries in the district.
- Back-up front office operations.
- Assist other departments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
Education/Experience/Certificates
- High school diploma required, college is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of office experience with preference given to executive level.
- Advanced computer skills required.
- Such alternative to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Skills and Abilities
Language
Individual must be able to read and interpret documents, compile simple and complex reports, applications, and correspondences, and have the ability to speak with staff members and community members.
Computation
Basic math and accounting skills are required.
Reasoning
The ability to interpret and follow directions is required, as are basic problem-solving abilities.
Technology
Must have strong computer skills, including word processing, working with spreadsheets, and internet. Must have the ability to learn new systems and software with instruction.

This individual must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels while maintaining a high degree of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
