Summary
The Lebanon Community School Corporation is seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Nurse to provide nursing services to our students. Responsibilities
Requirements
- Provide first aid and emergency care to students as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to established guidelines.
- Monitor and document student health records, including immunizations and medication administration.
- Assess and manage student health concerns, including chronic illnesses and acute conditions.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support health education and promote wellness initiatives.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student health issues and needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized health office, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Participate in school health programs and screenings as required.
- Assist with the development and implementation of health policies and procedures.
- Respond to health emergencies and provide appropriate care until further medical assistance is available.
Requirements
- RN Candidates must provide valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana.
- Other Candidates must provide appropriate medical license valid in the state of Indiana.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric nursing is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of health regulations, procedures, and best practices in school health.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in various school environments as needed.
Work Details
- This position is to be assigned to one school building 7.5 hours per day and 185 days per year.
- LMS and LHS hours are 7:15-3:15.
- Elementary School Hours are 8:15-4:15.
- The position directly reports to the building administration with a district coordinator of health services as support.
Physical and Mental Efforts
- This position requires a high level of physical and mental endurance.
- Sitting in an office environment, performing tasks on a computer or other technical devices.
- May require frequent standing for sustained periods of time.
- Frequent walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one part of the building to another.
- Constantly talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas to colleagues accurately and quickly.
- Ability to hear and listen to detailed information through oral communication.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.
- Ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.
