- Special Assignments SCOPE Under the Direction of the Director and Medical Director: the Training Officer is responsible for directing, coordinating, conducting, and evaluating instructional courses for personnel and other health care professionals; has the responsibility for ensuring all training requirements are met for the EMS service; to assist in the budgetary process and adherence to responsible fiscal requirements of the department; to serve as a quality assurance committee member and chart auditor, carrying out all duties to meet the Quality Assurance Quality - Improvement program requirements, including but not limited to prospective and retrospective reviews, protocol revision and implementation, verifications examinations, protocol testing; to provide public education, diplomatic relations and liaison activity with the multiple communities, hospitals, medical community and government entities served by this department; the employee in this position is responsible for proper emergency prehospital care; to provide as the administrator oversight to all new hire employees; the Training Officer will perform all the duties and requirements of a Kansas certified Paramedic. Serve as the Departments Infection Control Officer KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: (\*Required prior to employment) 1\. Oversee the scheduling and instruction of prehospital training and providing quality instructors and maintenance of training records, as required by the Kansas State Board of EMS and to complete a yearly audit that all technicians meet the Board of EMS certification requirements; 2\. Maintain the Program Provider program as required by the Kansas State Board of EMS; responsible for overseeing safety training; 3\. Capable of completing all required paper work, with proper routing, for accidents (personal and property), and incident reports; 4\. Will be responsible for maintaining all training equipment in proper working order, to include an inventory; 5\. Participate in quality assurance - quality improvement reviews; 6\. May operate emergency vehicles and equipment; respond to emergency ambulance calls and supervise, direct and/or assist in patient care, treatment and transport; function in the capacity of a Kansas certified Paramedic; 7\. Assist with the hiring of new employees; 8\. Oversee the orientation process of new employees; 9\. Assist with student internships; 10\. Maintain a liaison l eadership role between the business office staff members and technicians. 11\. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing; 12\. Considerable knowledge of the laws relating to ALS operations; 13\. Ability to supervise and direct others; 14\. Ability to see and read instructions, operate a computer and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet and E-mail usage; 15\. Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public, employees, shift supervisors and public officials; 16\.
