Job Summary

As a Dog Bather (Bather’s Assistant), you play a vital role in the grooming process by ensuring every pet is properly prepared for the groomer while providing a safe, low-stress experience for each animal. Responsibilities include: bathing dogs & cats using the appropriate shampoos and conditioners for their skin and coat type, thoroughly drying coats with high-velocity and stand dryers, brushing and de-shedding, safely restraining pets during the grooming process, and monitoring for any signs of stress, skin abnormalities, or health concerns. Bathers also perform a variety of grooming add-on services, including teeth brushing, nail trimming and filing, paw pad shaves, sanitary trims, ear cleaning, and applying finishing products as directed. Attention to detail is essential to ensure every dog is clean, dry, and fully prepared for the groomer to begin the haircut.

In addition to animal handling, Bather’s Assistants are responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary grooming department. Daily duties include cleaning and disinfecting tubs, grooming tables, dryers, kennels, brushes, and equipment, washing & drying towels, sweeping and mopping floors, sanitizing workstations, restocking grooming supplies, and assisting groomers throughout the day as needed. Team members may also help safely move pets throughout the facility, communicate observations about a pet’s condition to the grooming team, and assist with client interactions when appropriate. This position requires the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, lift and handle dogs of all sizes, remain on your feet for extended periods, and provide compassionate care while maintaining the high standards of cleanliness, safety, and quality expected at Leashes and Lashes.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
