About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accounts Payable Accountant to join our finance team in Herndon, VA. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about optimizing AP processes, ensuring compliance, and supporting financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help to manage accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment runs, and vendor reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Review and resolve discrepancies in vendor accounts and communicate effectively with internal departments and external vendors.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities related to AP.
- Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Mentor junior AP staff and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- This role is around 70% a sole contributor role without direct supervision
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a multi-entity or international organization.
- Familiarity with expense management tools.
