Role Description The Reading Specialist role at Learning Tree Coach is a part-time, on-site position located in Walnut Creek, CA. The Reading Specialist will provide targeted reading intervention and tutoring to students, focusing on building literacy skills and improving reading comprehension. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing reading levels, developing individualized lesson plans, delivering direct instruction, and monitoring student progress. The Reading Specialist will collaborate with caregivers, teachers, and other professionals to adjust strategies and support students’ overall academic success. The role also involves maintaining clear documentation of sessions and using data to inform instructional decisions.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Reading Comprehension and Literacy instruction, with the ability to support diverse learners.
- Experience providing Reading Intervention and individualized Tutoring for elementary and middle school students.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate reading strategies.
- Ability to conduct informal assessments and use results to plan differentiated instruction.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Special Education, Reading, or a related field; reading specialist certification or equivalent training is preferred.
