At Learning Never Ends (LNE) we work with adults with developmental disabilities in our centers to provide opportunities to further their learning, explore their creativity, and experience events and activities in the community.
As a DSP Driver, you’ll play a vital role in promoting independence and inclusion for adults with developmental disabilities, helping them to reach their full human potential.
The main function of a DSP Driver is to provide safe and reliable transportation for adults with developmental disabilities to and from their Learning Never Ends center. Our drivers receive paid training and use a company van while driving their route.
Driving Hours: Approximately 7:30am-9:00am and 3:00pm-4:30pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure vehicle has all essential equipment before leaving for your route, this can include: Q-Straint wheelchair restraint system, charged cell phone, first aid kit, gas card, etc.
- Assist consumers when they enter and exit the vehicle to ensure safe transition
- Maintain consumer safety within the vehicle while en route
- Record mileage and time electronically using phone-based tracking system
- Be aware of weather and road conditions before leaving for your route
- Stay up-to-date with your route and any changes that are made
Skills:
- This position requires patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Perform defensive driving at all times
- Be able to show kindness and empathy to the people we serve
- Must be well organized and a self-starter
- Must own a smartphone with data, and be able to use a phone-based GPS map
- Must be able to physically assist adults on and off the vehicle
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current and valid Driver License with less than 3 points on driving record
- Current and car insurance
- No felony convictions as identified and outlined by the Ohio Revised Code
Schedule:
Monday - Friday
Morning Route: 7:30 - 9:00am
Afternoon Route: 3:00 - 4:30pm
License/Certifications:
- Driver License
- No CDL Required!
