We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Meck Pre-K Assistant Teacher to join our team in Mecklenburg County. In this role, you will assist in providing high-quality classroom experience for 4-year-old children, aligned with Meck Pre-K standards and NC Pre-K guidelines. The ideal candidate will support play-based learning, inclusive practices, and strong family engagement to help foster the developmental success of young children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing a developmentally appropriate, Creative Curriculum-based program that aligns with the NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development and Meck Pre-K program standards.
- Help create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active exploration, inquiry, and discovery.
- Support daily classroom activities that promote child development in literacy, math, social-emotional skills, and self-regulation.
- Assist in conducting formative assessments and maintaining required documentation using approved Meck Pre-K tools.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with children and families to support each child’s learning and well-being.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and center leadership to ensure compliance with Meck Pre-K and DCDEE regulations.
- Participate in required Meck Pre-K professional development trainings, coaching sessions, and classroom observations.
- Maintain accurate records and reports as required by program guidelines and licensing standards.
Qualifications:
- Must meet Meck Pre-K Assistant Teacher qualifications, including:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one of the following:
- NC Early Childhood Credential (earned by completion of EDU 111 and 112 or EDU 119), or
- A post-secondary two-year degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Growth & Development, or Early Childhood Special Education from an accredited institution of higher education, or
- A nationally accredited credential certificate such as CDA, CCP, MACTE, AMS, or AMI Montessori.
- Prior experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed early learning setting is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Creative Curriculum, NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development, and best practices in early childhood education.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Commitment to inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Must pass all required background checks, health screenings, and DCDEE requirements.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of walking, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling for extended periods.
- Able to move quickly to respond to children's needs and to ensure child safety.
