Job Overview
Learning Exchange provides services to the non-public schools in the City of Milwaukee under Title I funds to support students in the areas of math, reading, and ELA.
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Academic Tutor/Tutor Support to assist students across various subjects, including Mathematics, English Language Arts, and Reading. This role involves working closely with students to support their academic growth through personalized tutoring/homework assistance either 1:1 or in small groups and through supervising small to medium-sized groups of students while they are with online tutors.
Travel between 2 or more school sites may be necessary depending on schedule and if you are a licensed teacher.
If you wish to LEAD tutoring sessions with students you must hold a current and valid WI teaching license. If you are just supervising students who are with online tutors then a teaching license is not required.
If just supervising students with online tutors, hourly pay is $15 per hour.
If licensed to teach and taking tutoring sessions at school sites between supervising students with online tutors then hourly pay is $35 per hour.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions in Mathematics, English Language Arts, and/or Reading to help students improve their understanding and skills.
- Communicate regularly with classroom teachers to understand lesson plans and align tutoring support with current curriculum objectives.
- Support students with homework and classwork, reinforcing concepts taught in the classroom.
- Supervise small to medium-sized student groups when pulling students from class to work with online tutors.
- Travel between multiple school sites as needed to deliver tutoring services and support student learning across different environments.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that respects students’ diverse cultural backgrounds.
Experience
- Prior experience in tutoring or educational support roles is preferred, especially in subjects such as Mathematics, English Language Arts, or Reading.
- Classroom management a must to keep student engaged in both online tutoring sessions as well as tutor sessions led by you.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, students, and online tutors.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs and learning styles.
- Comfortable traveling between schools and managing multiple groups of students in various settings.
