What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Director position at Learning Center of Northeast Arkansas?
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning, Vision-setting, Leadership
- Reports to Executive Director to maximize effectiveness of organization
- Consults with the Executive Director about developments, need and adjustments to services provided at The Academy
- Inspires a culture of mission-driven excellence
- Helps formulate performance management and culture of accountability
- Supports in developing the school’s long-term strategic plan and initiatives such as accreditation
- Builds relationships to promote the school
- Actively contributes to enrollment and retention
- Facilitate a regular evaluation process including classroom observations, peer reviews, staff and parent surveys, interim and yearly performance evaluations and annual self – evaluation
- Ensures equipment is in good working order and purchase request are submitted as needed.
- Staff and Student Program Development
- Will coordinate services, plan daily schedules, make adjustments due to absences of staff or children to maximize services
- Develop and lead regular staff meetings
- Ensures that each child is progressing to his/her potential, ensuring that students needing support are identified in a timely manner and receive appropriate resources where necessary
- Manage student behavior and adherence to school policy on discipline
- Ensures that school’s curriculum and programs are evolving to meet student needs
- Coordinates and oversees staff development and training that is aligned to the school’s curriculum
- Supports staff to collaborate and build on existing school curriculum, pedagogy, and development
- Oversees school data reporting systems and performs data analysis to inform instructional practice and communicate with parents
- Effectively develops and retains staff
- Develops leadership capacity and ability in the organization
- Will maintain protection of client privacy regarding any information maintained by the organization regarding services and/or operations Parents/Community
- Builds strong and positive parent community
- Communicate with parents about scheduled events
- Supports staff with parent relationships
- Works with the parent association
- Assist in the development and participates in school wide events and functions Participates in evaluation of prospective students and parents
Education, Certificates and Licensures:
Master’s Degree in Education or Special Education. Certification in CPR/First Aid or obtaining.
