Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Childcare Teacher to oversee classroom activities and foster a nurturing learning environment for children. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of childhood development, and a passion for early education. This role involves developing curriculum, managing classroom dynamics, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children under your care.
Qualifications: DCF 45 hours, CDA, and/or certifications/degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, etc.
Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with educational standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and Montessori methods.
- Lead daily classroom activities, ensuring an engaging and inclusive environment for children of various ages, including toddlers and preschoolers.
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies to promote positive social interactions.
- Collaborate with parents and staff to support individual child development plans, including special education and early intervention programs.
- Oversee curriculum development that incorporates childhood development principles, standardized testing preparation, and early childhood education best practices.
- Supervise assistant teachers and support staff, providing guidance on classroom management and instructional techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and developmental milestones.
- Ensure compliance with childcare regulations, health standards, and safety protocols to safeguard child welfare.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to early childhood education, literacy education, tutoring techniques, and classroom management.
Skills
- Extensive experience with children across various age groups, especially toddlers and preschoolers.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development theories and practices.
- Proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management strategies.
- Experience with special education needs, early intervention programs, and behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with Montessori methods, daycare operations, private school environments, and preschool experience.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with parents, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to utilize standardized testing tools to assess student progress accurately.
- Skills in teaching physical education, literacy education, math instruction, and tutoring methods.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to mentor staff and foster teamwork within the classroom setting.
