Afterschool Program Leader (Spanish Immersion)

In-Person | Monday–Friday | Start Time Between 12:10 PM–2:15 PM | End Time Approximately 6:00 PM

Learnika is a family-owned bilingual learning center in Palo Alto providing Spanish immersion after-school care and academic support for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We are looking for energetic, responsible, and committed individuals who want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children while becoming part of a close-knit and supportive team.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

• Be fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States (U.S. citizen, work visa, or other valid employment authorization).
• Be available Monday through Friday with start times ranging between approximately 12:10 PM and 2:15 PM, depending on school schedules and staffing needs, ending at approximately 6:00 PM.
• Commit to working through the entire 2026–2027 PAUSD school year.

Compensation for this position is $22–$25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

This role is ideal for the recent grad, college students, graduate students, aspiring educators, teachers, child development majors, psychology students, and young professionals who enjoy working with children and are seeking meaningful part-time work.

About the Role

Our staff members are much more than supervisors. You will mentor, guide, encourage, and support elementary-aged students throughout their afternoons by helping with homework, facilitating activities, speaking Spanish with students, and creating an environment where children feel safe, engaged, and excited to learn.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead groups of elementary-aged students.
• Support students with homework and academic enrichment.
• Communicate with students in both Spanish and English throughout the day.
• Create and facilitate games, art projects, workshops, and enrichment activities.
• Adapt support strategies to different learning styles and individual student needs.
• Assist students who need additional time, patience, or encouragement.
• Prepare materials and activities for daily programming.
• Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming and positive environment for students and families.

Additional Opportunities

Learnika also provides private tutoring services and receives tutoring requests throughout the school year. Staff members who demonstrate strong teaching ability and reliability may have opportunities to take on private tutoring students through Learnika at rates ranging from $28–$35 per hour, depending on subject area and student grade level.
