About the role:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

A Site Coordinator oversees a PREP program at a single high school (9th-12th grade) intended to encourage a culture of learning by providing students with the knowledge, skills, and resources for academic and personal success. Programming may occur inside or outside of the classroom during the school day, after school, on weekends, or during the summer. Activities may include tutoring, personal enrichment, life skills, recreation, and other activities that facilitate success.


A Site Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of programming including the supervision of Youth Leaders who work directly with students. Under supervision from a Program Quality Supervisor, a Site Coordinator trains and evaluates staff, and works closely with school administration, faculty, parents, and students to ensure that programming meets the needs of the school and its students, as well as the policies of the California and/or Federal Department of Education.


What you'll do:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the general operation of day to day programming at a designated LEARN partner school;
  • Develop and foster positive relationships with school administration, faculty, staff, parents and students;
  • Plan and coordinate programming with input from school administration, ASB students, teachers, parents, counselors, and Title I Coordinators via a program Advisory Board.
  • Develop staffing plan to implement programming;
  • Supervise Youth Leaders including performance monitoring and evaluation, recommendations for hiring, and proving direct input to staff disciplinary decisions;
  • Monitor expenses on a regular basis to ensure that the program costs remain within the program budget;
  • Regularly meet with teachers, principals, and other instructional-day staff to align after school activities with the students’ instructional-day curriculum or to ensure that after school activities align with the interests and goals of the students;
  • Ensure that student attendance is accurately recorded and reported and meets program plan goals and grant guidelines;
  • Work with school staff, parents, and students to recruit and retain students in programming;
  • Ensure that Youth Leaders record their time and submit all required paperwork accurately and timely;
  • Maintain individual and group documentation of program participation and academic progress (electronic and hard copy);
  • Distribute and collect evaluation instruments;
  • Assist with periodic reporting tasks;
  • Attend monthly Site Coordinator professional development, regular school all-staff meetings, and meet with the principal on a monthly basis;
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s Degree, or, four years of experience working with youth in an educational setting. Education and experience can combine for the 4 years (i.e. AA and 2 years of experience). A Bachelor's degree, experience supervising staff, and prior history of successful implementation of youth programs is highly desired.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Ability to pass a district examination for instructional assistants;
  • Knowledge of youth development;
  • Interest in working with at-risk youth to help them achieve their highest potential;
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, school staff and other stakeholders;
  • Ability to effectively supervise and manage the performance of coaching staff;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and act as a positive role model for students;
  • Ability to understand the needs and differences of children;
  • Ability to balance emotional support and discipline to deal with child behavior issues;
  • Excellent organizational and managerial skills, attention to details, and sound judgment.


LANGUAGE & COMPUTER SKILLS

Strong writing skills. Competence and comfort with computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and web-based communication tools, such as e-mail and Internet. Ability to speak Spanish is desired.


PHYSICAL SKILLS

Requires the visual acuity to observe the activity of children and others. Must be able to lift and carry small loads (up to 25 lbs.) and stand for prolonged hours.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must complete Live Scan Department of Justice and FBI Criminal Background Check and obtain health clearance (TB Test).


Condition of Employment & Benefits:

This position oversees an after school program on a high school campus. This position requires the candidate to be available for work during program hours, generally Monday – Friday (10:00 – 6:00 PM) and some Saturdays, 40 hours per week.


This is a regular full-time, benefitted, non-exempt (hourly) position. The current, standard organization’s retirement plan and health, life, vision, and dental insurance coverage are supplied per organization policy to individuals in eligible benefited positions. You will be eligible for health, life, vision, dental coverage after 90 days of continuous employment within this position and retirement benefits after working 1,000 hours in a single calendar year. Employee contribution to payment for benefit plans is determined annually. Currently, LEARN contributes 85% to benefits premiums for the employee and their dependents.


The pay range for this role is:

25 - 25 USD per hour(Village Academy High School at Indian Hill)
