The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Part-Time Latin Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year.
The Latin Teacher will introduce middle school students to Latin language and classical studies while helping them understand Latin’s lasting influence on English, history, literature, and Western culture.
Responsibilities
- Teach Latin grammar, vocabulary, translation, and classical texts to students in grades 6–8.
- Develop engaging, age-appropriate lessons that challenge and inspire students.
- Connect Latin to English vocabulary, literature, history, mythology, and classical civilization.
- Assess student understanding and provide meaningful feedback.
- Maintain a positive, structured, and intellectually engaging classroom environment.
- Collaborate with school leadership and faculty as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Latin and enthusiasm for classical studies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Classics, Latin, Education, or a related field.
- Prior teaching or tutoring experience strongly preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to engage and challenge academically advanced middle school students.
- Reliable, professional, and receptive to feedback.
- Must be able to successfully complete required background checks.
Schedule & Compensation
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 6–8 hours per week during the school year.
Compensation: $60 per hour
