Your responsibilities span across various school settings, interacting with students, teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student care. You provide individualized guidance and support to help students navigate academic challenges, career planning, and personal issues.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address students' academic, career, and personal/social development.
- Develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs that align with students' needs and school goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success and well-being.
- Assist students in developing academic plans and setting realistic goals for their future education and careers.
- Provide crisis intervention and support for students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Facilitate workshops and classroom lessons on topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, social emotional skills and college readiness.
- Advocate for students' needs at IEP meetings and other student-focused discussions.
- Refer families and students to external mental health resources when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress.
- Stay current with best practices in school counseling through ongoing professional development.

Qualifications
- Master's degree in school counseling from an accredited program
- Maintain state license/certification
- School experience required, high school experience preferred
- Current AZ IVP Fingerprint card
