Description
The therapy aide’s primary purpose is to directly support the therapist in providing direct patient care, and indirect patient support activities, under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist.
1. Contributes to therapist's effectiveness by identifying patient care issues and implementing therapy directives.
2. Directly assists therapist and carries out patient related tasks as directed by therapist. Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities; and in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses. Instruct, motivate, safeguard and assist patients practicing exercises and functional activities, under direction of therapy staff. Secure patients into or onto therapy equipment properly. Transport patients to and from treatment areas, using wheelchairs or providing standing support.
3. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Set-Up, Clean and organize treatment area. Disinfect and properly clean up and store equipment
4. Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations, standards; anticipating emerging issues.
5. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
6. Serves as a leader to volunteers and directs volunteers in job duties.
7. Enhances therapy reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
