What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leap Core Operations Intern position at Leap?
Leap Core Operations Intern 2026
Jersey City, NJ (Hybrid)
FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $25/hour
Duration: Summer 2026 (June-August), with potential to extend up to 6 months
About the role:
Leap is an insurtech company seeking a Core Operations Intern to support and enhance our day-to-day operations through process improvement and AI-driven solutions. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to the core functions of our business while contributing to meaningful, real-time work.
As a Core Operations Intern, you will participate in a rotational program across four key operational areas: Customer Experience (CX), Insurance Operations, PMO/Tech, and Accounting. You will take ownership of defined tasks, contribute to active projects, and develop practical skills that translate to careers in business operations, finance, technology, and risk management. This role requires curiosity, adaptability, and collaboration, along with a strong client-centric mindset. The ideal candidate can execute effectively while bringing an innovative, AI-first, solutions-oriented mindset—leveraging tools and technology to improve processes and drive efficiency.
About Us:
Since 2018 Leap has been a provider of innovative occupancy and risk management solutions for the multifamily and single-family rental markets. Its products serve to make apartment and single-family leases more affordable, providing insurance alternatives to security deposits and guarantors. It is Leap’s mission to improve the financial performance of landlords while making renting more accessible. Leap’s products mitigate the need for property management operators to take security deposits, thereby streamlining the leasing process, reducing move-in costs for renters, and driving higher occupancy rates.
We sit at the center of property management, technology, and insurance — building solutions that are meaningful, measurable, and still being written. That means every role here, including yours, contributes to our core mission: making renting easy and accessible for everyone.
What You’ll Do:
As part of a rotational program, you will gain hands-on experience across Leap’s core operational functions, contributing to real work that supports business performance and scalability. At the start of the internship, you will be paired with a dedicated mentor who invests in your development, not just your output. The expected deliverables are:
- Partner cross-functionally across CX, Insurance Operations, PMO, and Accounting to support day-to-day operations and contribute to active projects
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve workflows using innovative, AI-first solutions
- Assist in addressing customer and operator needs, gaining exposure to how our products and services are delivered in practice
- Support documentation and continuous improvement efforts, including maintaining and enhancing SOPs (e.g., Confluence)
- Contribute to data accuracy, reporting, and operational processes, with exposure to tools such as Salesforce, QuickBooks, and Jira
- Participate in testing, validation, and implementation support for system and process enhancements (e.g., UAT)
Desired Skillsets:
The ideal candidate is:
- Self-starter, curious, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
- Comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, with the ability to adapt and prioritize effectively
- Innovative and solutions-oriented, with experience using AI tools to improve processes and drive efficiency
- Technically inclined, with exposure to data analysis or coding (Python, SQL, or similar is a plus)
- Experience or familiarity with business tools such as Salesforce, QuickBooks, Jira, or Confluence is a plus
- Strong communicator and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through consistently
Qualifications:
- Rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, Spring 2026 graduates, or current graduate students in a relevant field
- Available to commit to the full program: June – August 2026, with potential to extend up to 6 months based on mutual interest
- Based in or able to commute to Jersey City, NJ (HQ is PATH-accessible from NYC and surrounding areas)
- Academic background or demonstrated interest in business, finance, accounting, risk management, insurance, or customer success (relevant coursework and projects count)
Our Culture:
We are a people-first, inclusive team and a modern, flexible, tech-forward workplace that empowers everyone to bring their full, authentic self to work. We move fast, stay curious, and value adaptability as much as expertise. We treat our customers, vendors, operators, and each other as true partners, and we follow through—because trust is built in the small moments.
We foster a flexible, high-trust environment with a strong culture of ownership. You’ll be empowered to deliver meaningful work that drives our mission forward. We believe the best ideas can come from anyone. As an intern, your voice is welcomed, your perspective matters, and your success is our success.
