This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer position located in Merritt Island, Florida.
The Mechanical Engineer will support LTS’s technical operations across leak testing, NDT services, training, equipment readiness, field execution, and customer support. This role is well suited for an engineer who enjoys hands-on technical problem solving, disciplined documentation, and cross-functional work with technicians, Quality, Operations, Training, and leadership.
The successful candidate will assist with mechanical system evaluation, test planning, procedure development, equipment troubleshooting, CAD support, technical documentation, and process improvement. The role may also support customer technical questions, quote reviews, field-readiness reviews, and internal initiatives that strengthen LTS’s ability to perform in regulated and high-consequence environments.
Navy nuclear experience is highly preferred, especially experience involving procedure compliance, mechanical systems, pressure or vacuum systems, maintenance, troubleshooting, qualification programs, or high-reliability operations. LTS is also open to early-career mechanical engineers who are technically sharp, coachable, disciplined, and interested in growing with the company.
- Support engineering analysis, mechanical troubleshooting, and technical problem solving for leak testing and related NDT work
- Assist with development, review, and improvement of technical procedures, test plans, work instructions, and training materials
- Use CAD tools to support equipment layouts, fixtures, mechanical concepts, tooling, and documentation as needed
- Support field readiness by reviewing scope, equipment needs, qualification requirements, calibration status, and technical assumptions
- Work with Quality and Operations to ensure technical work is planned, documented, and supported by objective evidence
- Assist with equipment improvement, maintenance planning, failure analysis, and lessons learned
- Support customer technical discussions, quote reviews, and scope clarification when engineering input is required
- Contribute to internal process improvement, technical standards alignment, and growth initiatives
- Collaborate with technicians, trainers, project leads, Quality, and leadership to improve execution discipline and customer outcomes
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline preferred
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, mechanical systems, and applied problem solving
- Experience with CAD software and mechanical design documentation
- Ability to read and interpret procedures, drawings, specifications, technical requirements, and test documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation quality
- Practical mechanical aptitude and willingness to support hands-on work
- Ability to work effectively in a small-business environment where ownership, initiative, and follow-through matter
- Familiarity with NDT methods, leak testing, vacuum systems, pressure systems, or regulated-industry work is a plus
- Navy nuclear, shipyard, power generation, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability operations experience
- Experience with pressure systems, vacuum systems, helium leak testing, mechanical testing, or NDT support
- Experience supporting procedure-driven work in regulated environments
- Exposure to ASNT, ANSI/ASNT, NQA-1, ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality and qualification frameworks
- Experience supporting field service, maintenance, troubleshooting, or test equipment readiness
