Founded in 1949, the League operates the leading no-kill animal shelter and adoption center in the Tri-State area. Its mission is to reduce the number of homeless cats and dogs in Greater Cincinnati by providing a compassionate, no-kill shelter and programs that promote responsible pet care. We are looking for a part-time Weekend Animal Adoption Counselor (focused on superior customer service) to join our team of animal lovers!
Summary
Animal Adoption Counselors at the League, play a vital role in connecting animals with loving homes. This position involves working directly with potential adopters to facilitate successful adoptions while promoting our mission of responsible pet care.
Responsibilities
- Assist potential adopters in selecting suitable dogs or cats based on their lifestyle and preferences.
- Greet visitors and answer phones.
- Socialize animals through enrichment plans.
- Manage the adoption process, including paperwork and follow-up communications.
- Participate in dog play groups.
- Perform canine meet & greets.
- Respond to online inquiries and assist in creating social media posts.
Requirements
- Proven customer service skills, be friendly, self-motivated and able to handle multiple people, phone lines and tasks at the same time.
- Comfortable handling both dogs & cats with any temperaments and without assistance.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with potential adopters.
- Hours are Saturday and Sunday 9:30am-5:30pm. Additional hours available in late Summer through Fall to cover for parental leave.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, at least 18 years old, bend, kneel, walk strong dogs, sit for long periods and pass a background and drug test.
