Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Caregiver/Direct Support Workers to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a variety of settings including private homes, group homes, assisted living facilities, and community environments. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing quality of life through personalized care, demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism at all times.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and observe patients’ health status, including vital signs and overall well-being
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA guidelines
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal planning and preparation
- Support clients with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care, utilizing specialized techniques
- Operate patient lifting equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, including progress notes and incident reports
- Follow prescribed care plans designed by healthcare professionals or social workers
- Ensure a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks as needed
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Adhere to all safety protocols including CPR, First Aid, and infection control procedures
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience in caregiving or direct support roles within settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home health agencies, or community care programs. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or other cognitive impairments is highly valued. Knowledge of medication administration, patient monitoring, HIPAA compliance, and emergency response procedures (CPR/First Aid) is essential. Previous roles involving long-term care or hospice services are advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team dedicated to providing compassionate patient-centered care.
