We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee all nursing services within our long-term care community. The Director of Nursing plays a critical leadership role in ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and a positive clinical culture. This position requires a strong clinical leader with long-term care experience who is committed to resident safety, staff support, and excellence in nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Leadership & Resident Care (110 Bed Facility)
- Long Term Care and Subacute Rehab
- Direct, supervise, and evaluate all nursing services and resident care activities
- Ensure individualized resident care plans are followed in collaboration with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Conduct resident rounds, care conferences, and oversee admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Ensure resident rights, safety, and confidentiality are upheld at all times
- Maintain infection control programs and safety standards
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local nursing home regulations
- Oversee Medicare and Medicaid assessments, MDS documentation, and timely state submissions
- Maintain accurate nursing records, reports, and department documentation
- Monitor and address noncompliance with policies or legal requirements
- Staff Management & Development
- Establish appropriate staffing levels and oversee scheduling
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate nursing staff at all levels
- Prepare and conduct employee performance evaluations
- Lead staff meetings across all shifts to promote communication and teamwork
- Administer and oversee nursing education and in-service training programs
- Operations & Budget Management
- Develop, maintain, and update nursing policies and procedures
- Participate in department budgeting and operate within established guidelines
- Purchase nursing supplies and equipment while ensuring efficient utilization
- Collaborate with administration and other departments to support facility goals
- Professional Standards
- Maintain on-call availability as scheduled
- Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and a caring demeanor
- Uphold ethical business practices and corporate compliance standards
- Maintain professional growth through continuing education and affiliations
Qualifications Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Minimum 5 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in long-term care
- Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to follow written and oral instructions in English
- PreferredBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred but not required.
- Prior Director of Nursing or Assistant DON experience in long-term care preferred.
