Interim Neonatal Nurse Practitioner/APRN

Location: Medford, Oregon, United States

Schedule: Days and Nights, 10-hour shifts (40 hours guaranteed); night shift includes call.
Pay: Up to $3,971.60 per week

Position Summary

This interim Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) role provides high-acuity neonatal care across Level II–III patients and supports Level IV complexity with neonatology oversight. The provider will deliver evidence-based assessment, stabilization, and ongoing management while partnering closely with families and the interdisciplinary care team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments, develop differential diagnoses, and implement management plans tailored to acuity and family needs.
  • Independently manage Level II–III NICU patients; participate in stabilization and management of Level IV complexity with oversight as required.
  • Lead or assist in delivery room resuscitation, neonatal stabilization, and emergency response in ED/OB for neonatal events.
  • Initiate and manage respiratory support including CPAP/HFNC and conventional ventilation; assist with higher-risk ventilatory strategies per protocol.
  • Perform privileged procedures such as UAC/UVC placement, peripheral arterial lines, PICC insertion, intubation, needle thoracentesis/chest tube placement, lumbar puncture, and other approved procedures.
  • Order, interpret, and act on labs, imaging, and diagnostics; prescribe medications and therapies (including parenteral nutrition) within scope and privileges.
  • Coordinate care with subspecialists, arrange transfers for higher-level services when indicated, and ensure continuity through rounds, family conferences, and discharge planning.

  • Inpatient NICU setting; average daily census approximately 18
  • 25–30 bed unit

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner focus from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent NICU experience as an RN or NNP.
  • Demonstrated competence in neonatal assessment, stabilization, respiratory management, and neonatal procedures consistent with privileging.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Oregon APRN licensure (or eligibility) as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
  • National NNP certification (e.g., NCC).
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
  • BLS and PALS certifications.
