Position Summary
The Employment Specialist is responsible for helping justice-involved participants secure and retain meaningful employment by focusing on job development, placement, and retention support. The role emphasizes building strong partnerships with employers, understanding their workforce needs, and matching participants to opportunities. While the primary focus is on employer engagement and placement, the Employment Specialist may provide job readiness training or workshops as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with prospective employers to assess workforce needs and hiring priorities.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with employers to create job placement opportunities.
- Match participants with appropriate employment opportunities and advocate for their hiring.
- Collaborate with employers to align participant training with the skills and qualifications they are seeking.
- Work closely with the Group Facilitator to ensure job readiness training reflects real employer feedback.
- Provide job retention support and follow-up services to promote long-term employment success.
- Engage community-based organizations and service providers to expand participant resources and support.
- Deliver specialized job readiness or career-related training sessions as needed.
- Track employment outcomes, maintain accurate case notes, and contribute to program reporting.
- Collaborate with case managers and other program staff to provide holistic support for participants.
- Attend trainings as required by the agency, funders, or partners to maintain compliance and strengthen professional skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in workforce development, human services, business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 2 years of experience in employment services, job development, workforce development, or related roles.
- Strong employer engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of barriers faced by justice-involved individuals and strategies to address them.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and motivational interviewing skills.
- Ability to track outcomes and manage data accurately.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20.0 per week
