Position Purpose
The Marketing and Media Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing Leadership Kitsap’s mission to empower community leaders to be educated, prepared, and engaged. This role manages multiple tasks and people simultaneously in a fast-paced environment where excellence is highly valued. This position reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with all Leadership Kitsap (LK) teams and members to coordinate all marketing and media activities. The Marketing and Media Coordinator also oversees a small, dedicated team of volunteers to promote and enhance the branding and storytelling of LK community events and programs.
The position’s primary objective is to increase measurable demand for services through effective marketing strategies. The ideal candidate loves staying five steps ahead, is driven by effective time management, has a passion for community-building, and aims for maximum efficiency.
The expectation for this role is to spend 50% (or more) of your time building strategic marketing plans and 50% (or less) on the day-to-day marketing operational tasks. This role manages marketing direction for the organization and coordinates the time and collaborative efforts of the volunteer marketing team.
Position Overview
- This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), permanent position working 20 hours per week and is non-exempt (paid hourly)
- The annual compensation range is $22,000-$27,474, depending on experience
- Additional benefits may include Health and Wellness Stipend and Matching Simple IRA Plan contribution, phone stipend, etc.
- This is a hybrid position; the percentage of time spent telecommuting or working in-office to be determined between this role and Executive Director. Some in-person meetings and events are required.
- Some weeks may offer the opportunity to work more than 20 hours to accommodate events, vacations, etc. However, this position cannot exceed 40 hours in any given week.
- This position’s weekly work schedule can be flexible and will be determined collaboratively. \
Duties & Responsibilities
Content Creation
- Develop marketing materials
- Craft engaging storytelling content
- Establish and maintain brand identity and messaging for events and programs
- Create and implement effective content calendar
- Update and maintain accurate information on www.leadershipkitsap.org
- Infuse messaging with effective calls to action for donor engagement
- Publish social media content
- Coordinate guest contributors to post relevant blog content
Data-Driven Analytics
- Monitor and report on social media insights
- Track program and event attendees to measure exposure and reach
- Coordinate with staff to track sponsors, partners and participants
- Provide detailed ROI statistics for investor relations
- Measure and track statistics to demonstrate success
Collaborative Partnerships
- Regularly collaborate with staff team, reporting individual and department goal completion
- Implement campaign objectives, timelines, and deliverables
- Explore creative ways to drive sales through strategic messaging and use of promotional tools (ticket sales, program and event registration, sponsorship sales, etc.)
- Lead volunteer marketing team, overseeing activities
- Share tasks effectively for streamlined project completion
- Actively participate in board and staff retreats as well as in all relevant team meetings
Required Qualifications

- Brings highly creative skills and experience capable of identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that effectively engage, inform, and convert leads
- Builds and maintains strong multi-media relations
- Holds a post-secondary degree in Marketing or related field OR has a minimum of three years with relevant experience
- Organizes and executes significant marketing campaigns
- Facilitates meetings efficiently and effectively, including agenda creation, task delegation, goal setting, follow-up, and who leads others to meet deadlines
- Possesses extreme attention to detail
- Communicates effectively with both superb writing and stellar wordsmithing
- Plans proactively for future events and projects
- Balances being deadline-driven while showing empathy to stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
It’s a bonus if you also . . .
- Are fluent in our preferred programs: WordPress, Canva, Give Butter (CRM), Microsoft 365, and modern social media scheduling platforms for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.
- Have experience with the Adobe Creative Suite or other professional design and video editing software
- Know eCommerce strategies and how to integrate a selling platform into WordPress
- Possess proficiency with coding and/or site maintenance
