Founded in 1979 by Morton C. Blackwell, the Leadership Institute (LI) provides training in campaigns, fundraising, grassroots organizing, youth politics, and communications. The Institute offers over 50 types of training programs. Since its inception, LI has trained over 250,000 conservative activists, leaders, and students and supports a network of over 3,000 conservative campus groups and newspapers.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Training Manager within the Jay Henges Center for Youth Leadership in Arlington, VA. The Training Manager will recruit for LI's flagship training the Youth Leadership School, deliver training programs for young conservatives on campus, manage programs from start to finish, and coordinate all logistical aspects of programs. Responsibilities include creating training materials and evaluating the effectiveness of programs to ensure they meet LI's objectives. The Training Manager will also maintain relationships with stakeholders and support the growth of LI's youth leadership initiatives.
In addition, the training manager will manage smaller versions of the program; Youth Leadership Workshops (YLW) and Campus Election Workshops (CEW), and will oversee aspects of YLS recruitment, coordinate logistics for smaller workshops, and present lectures on political technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead recruitment efforts for YLS, engaging top-tier students to participate in the program, ensuring all program goals are achieved.
- Handle logistics and execution of smaller workshops such as YLWs and CEWs.
- Deliver lectures and trainings on political technology.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with partner organizations to ensure continued collaboration for future trainings.
- Ensure all aspects of the YLS program and related workshops are executed professionally.
- Manage event planning - coordinating dates, venues, and resources for training events.
- Oversee budget management for events, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet recruitment goals and ensure successful training events.
Qualifications
- Experience as a member in more than 1 college conservative organization.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Experience in campaign work and a solid understanding of political processes.
- Ability to handle high-pressed situations effectively and maintain composure under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills for relationship-building and maintaining partnerships.
- Good sense of direction and ability to navigate unfamiliar cities.
- Quick decision-making ability and willingness to take responsibility for outcomes.
- Event planning experience and the ability to manage logistics for large-scale trainings.
- Experience with budget management and ensuring financial goals are met for events.
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of the YLS before applying.
- Solid understanding of conservative principles.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Experience in college conservative groups or likeminded issue-based groups.
- Previous experience on a political campaign required.
- Experience organizing events from start to finish.
- Pristine communication and writing skills
- Pre-existing relationships in a variety of states
