ABOUT THE POSITION
Lead The Way Dog Training is seeking a Dog Trainer or Trainer Assistant in Ocean View, New Jersey.
Animal handling experience is preferred. Professional dog training experience is welcome but not required. We are willing to develop someone with strong customer service skills, reliability, good judgment, and a genuine interest in professional dog training.
Customer service is essential. This position involves working with dog owners as well as dogs. Candidates must communicate clearly, listen to client concerns, follow established procedures, and represent Lead The Way professionally.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely handle and train dogs according to established training plans
Reinforce obedience, structure, routines, and appropriate behavior
Observe and document behavior, health, and training progress
Assist during client coaching sessions
Provide professional customer service
Clean and maintain kennels, training areas, and equipment
Assist with exercise, enrichment, daily care, and facility operations
Follow all Lead The Way training and safety standards
QUALIFICATIONS
Animal handling experience preferred
Professional dog training experience not required
Strong customer service and communication skills
Reliable, punctual, observant, and willing to learn
Able to accept instruction and apply feedback
Physically capable of handling dogs and training equipment
Able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Willing to perform kennel cleaning and daily facility responsibilities
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
The selected candidate will begin as a CCTA Candidate and receive paid, on the job training. Certified Canine Trainer Assistant certification must be earned within six months of employment.
Experienced trainers must also learn and follow the Lead The Way Dog Training standards, curriculum, and LEAD System of Training. Advancement is based on demonstrated performance and fit.
