Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site CNC Lathe Operator role based in Houston, TX. The CNC Lathe Operator will set up, operate, and monitor CNC lathes to manufacture and repair casing and drill pipe connections and related components to precise specifications. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting technical drawings and work orders, selecting and installing tooling, loading materials, and adjusting machine parameters to achieve required dimensions and surface finishes. The role involves performing in-process inspections, verifying measurements with appropriate gauges, and collaborating with inspection personnel to meet quality and safety standards. The CNC Lathe Operator will also maintain equipment, perform basic troubleshooting, follow shop safety procedures, and document production activities in accordance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Machine Operation and Machinery skills, including setup, operation, and basic maintenance of CNC lathes.
- Candidates should possess solid Machining skills, including turning, threading, and finishing operations for pipe and components.
- Candidates should possess Quality Control skills, including the use of measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and adherence to inspection criteria.
- Candidates should possess Milling or related metalworking skills that support versatile machining capabilities in a shop environment.
- Experience with oil and gas tooling, pipe connections, or API/DS-1 specifications is highly beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and technical instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Prior experience as a CNC lathe operator or equivalent machining role; vocational or technical training in machining is preferred.
